I’m pretty obsessed right now with sage plants and anything galvanized, metal, chippy and beat up. Most of my decor is stuff that I’ve painted, found or thrifted but I also have a few key pieces in my home that I love.
The piece that makes this centre piece is my giant sage plant which I snagged at Winners ( For you Americans, Winners is like Home Goods or Marshalls ) Not only was it cheap but it also looks like a real plant, even the texture feels real. I love the white tone of this plant and it makes my space feel so airy.
The galvanized bin I thrifted at a really cool store called the Trading Post, for all you local readers. I originally had like 4 or 5 of these big bins and sadly, I think Glen threw out the others.. I know ( ahhhhhhhhh ). I need to find more so I can make a really cool entrance at the door.
I had really cute candlesticks that I painted dark grey with fat paint and then Brinley broke the other so I now use this one as decor. For some reason, I just love using candlesticks as decor so I need to go thrift some more as I think it goes so pretty with my painted antlers that I also got at the trading post over three years ago. The tray I snagged two years ago at Homesense and it also was broken and Glen fixed it for me.
Something you need to know about my life, mostly everything in my home is either stained, broken or nearing death. We have three kids under 7 and I like to have a beautiful home. The two of these things don’t mix well so that’s why I shop at cheap stores and don’t put expensive pieces in my home.
The tulip tray I bought a year ago from Barn Door Decor. My friend Deb owns this amazing little store in Ladysmith that I’m completely smitten over. You need to go check her out, she even ships.
I was thinking, I should probably move my blog out of my living room.. but I am just starting to love how it looks. The only thing I would change about it is my sofa. I would love a new tufted rolled armed sofa.. but one can dream, right? Tomorrow I’m painting my dresser in my room. It’s been blue for almost two years now and i’m painting it the same color as my bed and purchasing new knobs for it. I literally cannot wait to show it off. My room is quickly becoming my favourite room in the house as it’s so calming and relaxing. I know I always go off about how much I hate the color in my master bedroom, but it’s a heck of a lot better than a dark mad color.
On a side note, today has been hard. I don’t know why I care what people think of me. I don’t know why I care. I’m way too sensitive for my own good. I think this is why I like to be a hermit so much is so I don’t have to face rejection or people not liking me. I do have some pretty amazing friends, but they’re spread all over Canada and I don’t get to see them often. So for now, I’ll just hermit in my home and blog about home decor & farmhouse goodies.
Wish me luck! Tonight I start my first module of my design course. Lets get my brain learning about all this goodness
Thanks for stopping by the blog today & I hope you’re having an amazing day
