It’s the 27th, which means the day to take the Christmas decorations down. I know that most keep them up until New Years, but we always put them up early & them take them down early. This year has looked a lot different. I know I keep bringing this up, and I’m sorry if it makes you uncomfortable but it’s know part of who I am. After our baby passed away, and then my Nana passed away in early December it really changed things this Christmas. We still had fun times and we still enjoyed Christmas, but it made things different. It made things a bit more cold and at times, sad. I think this played a huge roll in me wanting to take down the decorations this year. To me, it felt more like clutter than warm, cozy Christmas decorations. You know?
Thing is, I love all my white decor, so I decided to incorporate a lot of it into my winter decorating. We still will get snow and cozy up on the sofa with a hot coco and I want my decorations to reflect a cozy cold season. We had some big alder branches my brother cut down for me, so I cut them down smaller to use them as a centrepiece. I might go snag some faux snow to sprinkle on them.
I’m super stinking excited. My grandparents gave us 100.00 cheque this year, so we bought this rug to put in our living room & we got a killer deal on it. My idea rug us this rug, but we have to save for a long time to get it. So I can always move the rug we bought up into our bedroom. What do you think? It’s so bright and airy! I literally cannot wait!
I really love traditional rugs. I love this one as it has a bit of distressing so looks vintage with a bit of modern flair.
Also, Glen finally hung my TV… HALLELUJAH.
I like keeping things simple. I don’t like a lot of clutter, it drives me nutty! Especially with three littles running around the house making messes, I like to keep my decor simple and uncluttered because if it’s too cluttered I constantly feel messy. I don’t know why. It must be an OCD thing.
My favourite part of my winter decorating is the white sled. I used this also with my Christmas decor, see here.
One thing that I’m missing hard core is the glow of the Christmas tree.. so I’m trying to think of a way for me to incorporate twinkle lights into my living room.
Also, here’s a little sneak peak of my dining room… this piece wont be here for long as Glen is spending some of our holidays building me a buffet. But I kind of re-decorated the current sofa table I have now.
& now to enjoy a cup of joe… Happy Holidays friends, I hope you hearts are warm and your happy and well!
