The Biggest Answer To Prayer

This week has been rocking so far. The sun is out, I’ve completed day two of the Keto diet, I haven’t lost my sanity and last Wednesday we had the best news ever!

Most of you know that our son was born with Microtia. With that, he has skin covering his ear canal. We actually didn’t even know if he had an ear canal as the specialists weren’t investigating that until all our Children Hospital appointments in September.

BUT, we had his 3 hour long hearing test and we found out the best news ever! Rhett can hear 70 Decibels in his left Microtia ear. I mean, if that isn’t good news I don’t know what is. His hearing in his right ear is perfect.

Basically that means that he has all the components to hear, so down the road when he has reconstructive surgery to form his ear into a “normal ear”, he will be able to hear perfectly - at least that is what audiology thinks. This also means that he has an ear canal, just right under the surface!

In the meantime I’ll be starting to learn sign language with him. So far I’ve started signing “Milk” and “Mama”, his two biggest needs right now. But as he grows, I’ll add more and more words.

If you’re wondering what 70 decibels would sound like, a normal conversation is 50 decibels and a rock concert is 120 decibels, so basically he can hear really loud talking and screaming. Of course, we don’t want to overwhelm the little guy, so talking directly into his right ear and signing with him will work great for now until he has had surgery down the road.

Today I received a lovely little package from Modern Burlap and in that package they sent Rhett these ADORABLE Jammies. How absolutely fitting is this verse?

With our journey, I’m finding so many ways how Gods hand is in it all. He sure does have our little family and our little Rhett in the palm of his hands.. so much peace in the future knowing that we have a God that knows all.
