I have wanted to jump on in the last few days to share my chippy old buffet I picked up off Craigslist for pennies. It wasn’t in the greatest shape. Doors wouldn’t shut, dents and scratches in it. But I fixed it up & turned it into a lovely little distressed chippy TV Stand!
Something I love to do but haven’t really done in the last few years is refinish vintage and antique furniture. I’ve not had a lot of time in the last few years. So when we brought this bad boy home I knew I wanted to give it a lot of attention.
I first painted the buffet with Rust-Oleum Chalk Paint in Linen White. It’s a creamy, not stark white. I only put one coat on. If you want a more clean, non distressed piece, I’d give it two coats. This paint has really good coverage, so I was impressed. Second, I distressed it heavily with a piece of sand paper. I know this isn’t a lot of peoples cup of tea, but you know me, the more distressed and beat up, the better. Third, I applied “Antiquing Wax” from Country Chic Chalk Paint to the edges of this console to make it look dirty. Then I applied a clear wax to protect it.
Here is the completed “Chippy Old Buffet”

Ignore me less than stellar photos, my living room is literally the tiniest room known to mankind and it’s the most awkward space to shoot. But I just had to share this buffet. For some reason, old, distressed, chippy feels like home to me.

I hope you all had the most amazing Long weekend. We are spending this day together before we get ready for another busy week and it feels so good to just be with each other. Of course, I’m slipping in this blogging while the kids are playing outside.
