Jumping on today to talk to you all about low maintenance house plants and where to find them. I also get a ton of questions on where I find my climbers and assorted bigger plants throughout my home.
I love plants because not only do they purify the air, they make a space feel lived in and cozy! Plus it’s always a find game to try and keep them alive ๐

A ton of my house plants I get from hardware stores.. which seems funny, but if you ask the managers when they restock their houseplants you can find beautiful plants for next to nothing!
For the above plant in our laundry room, it’s a climbing ivy and I got it from Canadian Tire. Often they have a section inside near the till where they have a ton of indoor plants. I love buying ivy because it’s super hard to kill.
This plant cost me 6.99 and we also have one in our living room. Keep in mind the pots do not come with these plants. But you can find cheap pots in so many places. I also like to thrift plant pots and paint them!

I love climbing plants, especially on shelving because it adds so much detail and fills up empty space.
I also love looking for house plants at Home Depot. All throughout Christmas there wasn’t much there. But I found my beautiful 4′ Fiddle Leaf Tree there as well as these beautiful climbing plants recently. So stopping in there once in a while to check there plant supply is a must!
My fiddle I got for 20 and the smaller plants were 6 and 15 dollars. So a steal compared to nurseries.

I also like to check grocery stores. Independent ones like Quality Foods and Thrifty’s are usually the best bets.
I got this climber house plant at Quality Foods and it is one of my favourite plants and it’s grown so much!

Next up is my favourite spider? house plant! I got this one at Canadian Tire a year ago. It’s thriving and also a really hard plant to kill! I really don’t know the names to any of these plants. I’m just here to tell you where to get them haha!

I get 101 questions on our birds of paradise house plant in our home. I actually got it from Northshore Tropicals. It’s in North Vancouver and it was quite a bit more, but I haven’t found a birds of paradise locally

So there you have it. My key places to find cheap houseplants.
Be sure to ask the staff when they restock their houseplants and you’ll score some really pretty plants for a few pennies!
