Hey beautiful friends! I’ve been itching to get on the blog lately, but between almost giving birth ( and trying to stay alive ), taking care of the home and three kids and various other things, I’ve had no time. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know that I’ve had quite the battle lately with anemia, sciatica and my sore umbilical hernia. But i’m still trucking and *trying* to really enjoy the last few weeks of pregnancy. Because this is it. Master Bedroom Reveal ( Part One )
So, for the Master Bedroom Reveal, I actually had it scheduled for the last week of January, but sometimes life doesn’t work like you want it, things get held at customs and here we are. So what I decided to do was do a part one and part two reveal, because really, I’m so impatient and there’s so much to talk about in this bedroom.
We still have a few DIY’s to do, the chandelier & lamps that we are being sponsored for, still aren’t here, and I had wanted to find a really cool funky chair that I could recover – but guys, these things take time and with the days seeming like they’re running away and three kiddos at home, I really wanted to get something up on the blog.
If you follow me on Instagram, you will have already seen bits of pieces of our reveal. Guys, it’s a totally new room and guess what? This room cost us 0 dollars. We’ve either had everything sponsored, or it’s been DIY’d. I mean, how insane is that?!
So, without further rambling, because I’m good at that. Lets take a look at the half completed Master Bedroom Reveal!
In this room I really wanted to make it feel like paradise. The walls got a huge overhaul in Simple White Paint. A lot of people do not like white paint, but for me, It’s my favourite wall colour to decorate around. It gives me freedom to decorate with any colour. There is nothing worse ( In my opinion ) when you mix a bright wall colour with bright accents, it just looks so clashy, like the room is competing with each other. & no, I’m not judging your walls when I come over to your home. But for me personally, I have a certain colour pallet I like.
The paint was supplied by Kilz, I got to try out their brand new Magnolia Homes line & let me tell you, It totally lived up to the hype. This paint goes on super thick, the coverage is probably the best I’ve ever tried. We still did three coats in our bedroom because the dark yellow walls were so dark. But we totally could of gotten away with only two coats. Master Bedroom Reveal
With the white paint in place, it let me be a bit more free with my accent colour. I drew out the sea foam blue from the rug, and picked two pillows to decorate with on the bed. I’m the kind of person that less is more. So the blue in the rug, in the pillows and in some of our photography on the walls is totally sufficient for me. The two sea foam pillows were donated to us by Loloi Rugs. They’re probably the best quality pillows I’ve ever owned in my life. Master Bedroom Reveal
I think, besides the paint, the bedding is the next biggest transformation in the space. Yes, it might be white like we had before. But, it’s such good quality linens. VHC Brands provided the King Quilt, Shams, Curtains and throw blankets in this space. When you’ve had a duvet cover on your bed for 3 years, it starts to fall apart, and you could tell. VHC linens are so high quality and really turn this bedroom into a high end space. Plus, I LOVE white because you can just throw it in the wash and bleach it. It’s the perfect color to have with kids because there is no way to ruin it.
Lets also talk about this rug. Well Woven was so kind and sent us over the 8×10 Maxwell Rug. It’s so stunning and really grounds the entire space. With this space, I really drew browns and blues out to the rest of the space. It feels so serene in this space and I don’t think I could of achieved this look with any other rug. This rug also came really fast and is such good quality. The pile isn’t super high – but feels like such a high quality rug. Master Bedroom Reveal
As for the rest of the decor, I will tag below. They’re items that I’ve accumulated over the last 3 years. Nothing was purchased new for this space, which blows my mind.
Then we have a little nook in our room dedicated to our little one that will be making an appearance any day. The dresser is a piece that I refinished, here & it has ample storage for all his stuff. I like how I added a few farmhouse pieces like the old fence panel from our backyard ( that was about to get tossed ) and our farmhouse lamp that we used to have in our living room. The dresser is super modern for my taste, so I had to bring it down a few notches with the key pieces I talked about above. All in all, I love this space so much.Master Bedroom Reveal
Absolutely stunning! The white on the Aubree looks so good with the darker colors in the back.
I completely agree Clive. Super happy with all the VHC Brands textiles
