Hey!
I just wanted to pop on to the blog not only to update you on how I’m fairing the last few weeks with healing, but also on my living room! I’m so proud of this work of love… it’s been the biggest transformation and it goes to show you that even if you live in a rental, you can still transform your space and make it look beautiful without drilling into your walls and wrecking your rental space!
A lot of the items in this room were gifted and that’s what makes it so much more special. But a lot were also DIY’d too!
In this blog I’ll be linking all of our decor, furniture and rugs as I constantly get so many questions, so this will be a great place to send people when they ask me questions.
I wanted to first start off with how the room looked last July when we first moved in. Keep in mind, our Landlords did an amazing job in this home. Prior to them working their magic, it was an ugly retro mess.. they painted everything so beautifully and put some nice finishing touches in it.. so we didn’t have to pain, which was SO nice.
We did DIY the fireplace and you can read all about that here.
Here are two photos before we moved in:

And below is what I transformed it into

I would like to highlight our trusty nail gun. I don’t know if you’ve ever seen how teeny tiny nails from a nail gun are, they make the smallest holes, you cannot even see them if you’re standing a few feet away. If we need to hang anything, we use that as the nails are deep so it’s very secure, but does little damage to the walls. win-win if you’re a renter!

You can find our living room rug here and it comes in many different sizes. This one is the 8×10. Loloi makes such beautiful rugs and it’s so soft under our feet. Since working with them, I have a hard time buying rugs elsewhere as Loloi Rugs are such good quality.
The round tassel pillow on the white chair is from Lorena Canals and would you believe that it’s washable? She makes the best rugs and pillows!

The chandelier you can purchase from many different places. It’s the “Fela Tassel Chandelier” I got it from Fine Linens.. but I wouldn’t recommend getting it from there, the border fees were crazy. Here’s a link to Anthropologie.
The throw blanket I actually purchased at Walmart of all places for 24.99, but I cannot find it on their website at all ( sorry guys!)
The coffee table we DIY’d and you can find the post about it here it was our 20.00 project and I’m still obsessed with it.
Baskets on the wall were thrifted and I bought one from my friend addy.. but i’m hoping to add a few more to it!

Also the basket sitting on our fireplace is from Ikea and I love it so much. Adds a bohemian vibe to the room without breaking the bank.
The black vase on the table and the sectional as well as the cream tassel pillow are from Structube. Our sofa is “Caramel”.

The last cushion on our sofa is from here and the blue lumbar cushion you can get here.

The prayer beads are the medium size and from The Cross. Pretty much the only thing I could afford from that store, but I love how they make a statement on my table. Here’s the link for them.

The white chairs are from “Campaign” and you can purchase here. These were gifted to me a year ago and we’ve loved them. The slipcovers completely come off the entire chair and I bleach them almost every week!
Also, I keep getting a ton of questions about my plants in these spaces. The one in the corner is a “Birds Of Paradise” super low maintenance and adds so much life into a room. The second plant on our mantel that drapes down is from Canadian Tire and I honestly have no idea what it is. But it’s also easy to take care of.

The mirror on the fireplace I thrifted for 20 dollars and the old barn window behind our chair is a family heirloom and I picked up the mirror here.

I love this picture shelf wall we DIY’d last year and you can find the blog here. The wall sconces we just hung and they’re from My Mitzi. You can find them here.
As for all my art on the picture ledge, you can find the biggest beach shot here and the two smaller ones here and here.

As for the old “Fresh Cream Flavour” crates, those are antiques that have been in our family for over 100 years. The old vintage fan was Glen’s Grandpas from the 40’s.
and lastly, one of my favourite parts of this room… our giant stump side table. Truth be told, this was rolled off of my parents beach over two years ago and has been sitting in their garage drying ever since. Back in April I begged to momentarily “borrow it” and here it is. It’s amazing and the most special think about it is that you could never buy it in stores.
Let me know if I missed anything. If I didn’t link it, it’s because it was DIY’d, thrifted or bought at a place like Homesense.

Beautiful! I love it. I am trying to find the perfect paint color for my living room. It opens into the kitchen which is farmhouse theme. I’m going for this kind of theme for my living room. Plants, baskets, rustic, etc.. my couch is a big dark grey sectional. Any ideas on a paint color?
