This blog has been such a long time coming! We first starting filling holes and painting the den way back in the first week of January. Then we did a feature wall in our den for 42 dollars, which you can find here.
Before we get started, I wanted to send you a few shots of our ‘before’. Not sure why but the drywall is ultra ultra soft in here, but the slightest bump of the wall leaves a mark, so there was LOTS of filling we had to do.
I can’t find a picture of the space prior to painting, but here is a photo of it post paint. It was a very dark grey before with dark grey carpet.. we called it in the “dungeon” as there is also no windows haha!

This project was ultra fun as I worked with Havenly to design it.
If you haven’t heard of Havenly, they are a design service where you can work with any budget and shop all in one place. You will take a style quiz to find out exactly your style, then Havenly will match you with the best designers for your style.
There are two different packages:
Mini Package for 129
Full Package for 179
Honestly having done e-design for a while and knowing the industry, this is a HUGE bargain. Most designers charge over 150-300 an hour and these packages will give you a full room design and placement!
If you’re interested in buying a package, the below link will get you 50.00 off a full package or 20.00 off a mini

So without further ado… are you ready to see what my designer came up with??
I did send her a few items I loved and this is the mood board she designed:

And here is the final layout. I did purchase all items in this room and put them elsewhere in my home.. that gleaming primrose mirror clashes a bit with our feature wall in our office, so It’s above out mantle.

and the final design… I might be *slightly* regretting not getting the grey chair my designer picked out for me. I wanted a pop of color.. but looking at the pink chair now, it makes the space look less expensive.

I love how everything came together. My designer originally picked out a sofa for this room, but this room is only 8×10, so I’m really happy I used our chair. Ignore Brinley’s little toes sticking out, she was having a nap while I was shooting the images.

This room is honestly just big enough for a desk, plant and chair. It will be such an amazing place to work in and I’m glad I had a little help designing the space. You all know I’m pretty capable and designing my spaces by myself, but I really wanted to partner with them to spread the world to all of you who might not be as competent with home design!

This room is extremely tricky as it’s so small at only 9 x12, but it also has THREE doors off of it, so there was really only one wall I could put my desk.
This room was actually added on and has no windows. It joins the laundry room, garage and kitchen!

A few tips if you’re Canadian and wanting to use this design service. You need to download an app or change you API on your browser so it doesn’t show you’re Canadian. This is what the team at Havenly instructed me to do. It worked out great!

Above is a little shelf DIY I did with some basic Ikea shelves. That DIY will be coming soon, stay on the look out!
My designer actually picked me out a grey office chair – but I like living on the edge and decided to go with this really pretty loud coral chair.

and lastly, the pendant light and the wall sconce is from Lights.com they match my table lamp almost perfectly and I’m so happy with the mid century look of them.

I would love to hear what you think of the den makeover in the comments. Re-designing spaces is honestly the most fun ever.
