Guys.. I finally did it! I painted my blue dresser white! This has been a goal of mine for some time, probably like a year. But I kept putting it off. Finally I got really tired of looking at the blue dresser against my ugly yellow walls, so I finally painted it white and heavily distressed it like true Jess style. I will be painting my walls either an off white or a very light taupe color in the near future, so I knew that I wanted to have my bedroom set and soon to be desk all matching.
Here’s how this bad boy looked pre white paint
Yes the grey/blue looked lovely in my old house.. but not so much in this house. The previous owners of this house painted the home in every color under the rainbow, so our bright yellow bedroom didn’t jive well with the blue dresser. I felt like I was in a candy world or something.
Last night, after completing 4 hours of school I decided to just do it. This is usually how my projects go.. they’re all on the fly, rarely planned out and it’s normally late at night. So I still have yet to wax my dresser. But oh well, the more bangs the better… this girl likes extra distressing ๐
Isn’t it so pretty? Clearly the walls need a color change, but try to look past that. I love love love how it looks and my room actually feels like it’s starting to come together. Once everything is completely completed, I’ll have a matching bed, dresser and desk. I’m still contemplating if I want to leave the side tables as is or paint them too.
What do you think of my new dresser? Did you like it better grey?
Today I’m working on a butt load of school work, answering emails, painting my new desk, cleaning, doing laundry and making signs. Can this day get any busier? But, I’m thankful that we are allowed to be busy and that life hasn’t placed limitations on me.
Hope y’all are having a great day & thank you for stopping by the blog!
I liked the dresser before, but now it looks gorgeous in your room. I had that yellow color in my living room when I purchsed my house and it also drove me nuts. After a couple years I changed it out to a white, can’ remember the exact color but it madw a total difference. I live in a small town in Washington, old logger town, I love rhe area, but it is so dark and grey, I guess rhat is why rhe county is called Grey’s Harbor. Most of my DIY projects i do are in white, but I do bring in accent colors to make my rooms more compfy and cozy. I too love distressed look, but my husband didn’t at first, but has come around to my way of thinking, lol. I had the mudroom and family room painted (suppose to be off white, not too off) but they turned out a yucky yellow. This year I am painting them myself White and putting up some wainscotting also. We have done a lot of remodeling in our home, it is a 50’s built home, but it had every different color carpet and walls and i did love the charm of the home. I am starting a couple classes also in Feburary, to help me with my blogging and to help me with my Silhouette Cameo business. I like reading your posts. May God bless you and your family every day.
