Happy weekend friends!
I’m writing this on a Saturday, but who knows how long it will take me to complete it. I actually snapped the photos for this blog weeks ago, but I think I have a pretty good excuse for being slow, right?
I’ve had a lot of questions lately about what brands I use for my babies and what products are must have. Being a mama of three and being through almost 5 pregnancies, I feel like I’ve got a semi handle on mamahood and I know what I’m talking about.
First, let me say that babies do not need a lot. Contrary to popular belief, they don’t. They also don’t cost a ton. We make them cost money.
Here’s a list of must have baby products that I cannot live without. I do understand that we all parent differently and some might not believe in the same concepts I believe in, but here’s a list of items that I’ve come to solely need.
-Baby Wrap ( My kids live in these, especially for the first year )
-Sleepers, Onesies, Footies
-Cloth Diapers or Eco Friendly Biodegradable Diapers
-Swaddle Blankets ( Must have for nursing, cleaning up puke and swaddling at night )
-Diaper Bag or a big hobo purse you can throw all the goods in on the go
-You + Your boobs & a cover if you have kids that like to eat 24/7 like mine.
That list seems pretty small hey? But after having our first where I bought everything. Literally. I used maybe 25% of it. I often found that swings never worked and my arms or the wrap were much more preferred. Baby #2 & #3 wouldn’t sleep at night if they weren’t in my arms or near me, so scratch out the crib… and I exclusively breastfed all three babies so no need for anything but me. Basically when I get pregnant I plan to devote at least the next year of my life once the babies are born to be a walking, soothing, feeding machine.
So, you’re probably wondering why I gave you that list above seeing as this blog is about What’s in Rhetts Dresser. We’ve been so blessed to have been given a lot of what I’m going to talk about today.
Truth be told, the most fun part of being a mama is trying out all-the-products, dressing our littles up and spoiling them.
Something that I have this time around that I didn’t have the last time around is quality Essential Oils. We’ve been using Young Living Essential Oils in our life pretty continuously for about 23 months now and they’re something we can’t live without. We’ve ditched a lot of products that we used before that were filled with toxic crap & we’ve had the healthiest almost two years we’ve had since before having kids!
Two lines that I’m obsessed with are the Kidscents Line + The Seedlings Line.
Pictured here are two oils from the Kidscents line. Instead of buying bottle after bottle of gripe water and various other tummy issue blends for babies that don’t work. We’ve invested in “Tummygize”. I’ve heard amazing things about people using this on their newborns and we personally use it on our kids – so I’m thinking it works no different on a newborn!
Below are a few items that we will be using on our fresh new baby Rhett – and we’re so excited to cut all the toxins out of his routine ( this is not sponsored whatsoever, we just love this company and these oils. The quality is unbeatable. )
Next up on this list is our Dockatot which we have in marble. We have the infant version which lasts 0-9 months and guys. This is a game changer. Instead of hauling a giant playpen around, I plan to use this thing a lot. Especially when we go to families or friends homes or when I’m cleaning and I want a secure place for Rhett to be. ( Of course if he isn’t attached to me in the wrap )
This is also an awesome solution if you’re staying in hotels. We plan to use ours for a portable change pad too. In Canada we are not allowed to use our Dockatots for sleeping or as a co-sleeper, but since 89% of my blog makes up you amazing USA Citizens, your laws allow baby to sleep in this awesome device!
Something I had two of with Brinley was our Solly Wrap. This pregnancy Solly gifted Rhett with his very own Solly Wrap. Our babies live in wraps, carriers and ring slings. But I find the coziest is the Solly. The thing is, I find that as soon as baby hits 20 pounds they become a bit big for the Solly Wrap. I have to constantly adjust it as it sags out. But until then, this is a staple in mamahood. If you want to feel like a human with two arms or if you have kids at home already, you need both of your arms free!
We’ve also been gifted a ton of sleepers, onesies and footies. Not all of these brands have been gifted to us, but most have. I will be hyperlinking all of them so you can check out their websites.
Other brands in this drawer:
Most of these brands, minus Joe Fresh are all organic cotton. Which is super awesome as It lasts longer and doesn’t shrink.
I think I’m most excited to use the Billy Bibs on Rhett. I’ve drooled over these bibs for quite a while and we finally are able to try them out! They’re such amazing quality and reversible. So there is a different pattern on each side. The tassel is my all time favourite bib!
Next up on the list is diapers. I really wanted to do cloth diapering again but with this being our 4th kid and already doing laundry for so many people which I seem to fall behind on quite often, I just knew that I wouldn’t have the time. Que in biodegradable diapers. It’s kinda a win-win. We did buy a clearance pack of Honest diapers which I’m a bit ashamed to say… but c’mon, they were clearance. We will be mostly using Parasol diapers. They also come in the cutest prints and again – biodegradable. We are also using the Seedlings wipes & diaper rash cream from Young Living.
…and lastly, into the “fun” drawer. The drawer with all Rhetts Swaddles, Receiving Blankets, Wraps and Booby Covers.
Everything in this drawer was gifted to me, so I’m super thankful. i’m also super excited to try everything out. i’ll be naming all the brands below and what we received.
Milk Snob – Cover ( Carseat +Nursing Cover )
Lulujo – Receiving Blankets, Washcloths, Growth Blanket, Elephant Snuggly
The Ollie World – Swaddle
Binxy Baby – Shopping Cart Fabric Sleeper
I hope you guys enjoyed this edition of “What’s in Rhett’s Dresser”. I always find it so much fun to prepare for a new baby. This will be the first baby that we haven’t designed a nursery for as all three of my kids didn’t really use a nursery, they were mostly glued to me in our bed. I think around six months of age I will start collecting some goodies for his own bedroom, but until then, he will be bunking with me!
If you have any questions about any of the products I chatted about today, please don’t hesitate to drop me a comment and I’ll respond as soon as possible.
Thank you so much for reading, I’m hoping that soon, little Rhett will be making his appearance!
Oh, and on the transfusion front. If you aren’t on my Instagram & you were wondering, I had my second transfusion last Friday and wow, it’s made a massive difference in my energy levels. I might actually be able to push a baby out. Last transfusion is this coming week and I hope that Rhett makes his appearance shortly after!
