Rustic Industrial Bedroom Reveal
Good afternoon Friends.
Before I jump into the boys rustic industrial bedroom reveal I just have to really quickly mention that I was blown away by all the love from my last post. Seriously. You guys are amazing. The comments & emails were so delightful to read. I hope more of you speak up on here because the best part of blogging is reading the comments after. Since switching commenting/sharing systems all the old comments and shares were deleted. Such sadness. It basically looks like I’ve been blogging to no one for two years.
Okay, so lets chat about my boys room. They haven’t had a nice room in years. You know that stage that boys go through before they fully understand how to appreciate their things? Maybe your boys are still going through this stage, but for our kids, it was around age 6 that they started to realize that when they don’t take care of their things, they start to fall apart, look ugly and might not be usable anymore. They also realized that mommy and daddy can’t click our fingers and buy them a new something – no money for that, yo.
So, this year, I really wanted to turn their ugly white bedroom into a little haven for them to read, build lego castles and sleep. But there was one thing that was missing – a budget. We literally had no funds to do what I had in my brain. rustic industrial bedroom reveal
Luckily for me, I have an amazing husband who brings to life what I have in my head. Literally. He’s amazing. Normally it’s just out of scraps in our garage too so it’s free. Win-win.
Three of the major features in this room are the wood wall by Stikwood, the zip bedding from Beddys and the rug from RugsUSA. Without those three companies, I don’t think this room would look nearly as good as it does.

In their new space we did a lot of easy DIY Projects, like spray painting their free lamp and chandelier to match and give their room a more industrial feel. We made the beds a year ago, and I revamped the dresser into a modern mid century piece. It took 30 minutes to paint the drawers and wax them. I mean….. talk about big impact for little work. If you want a perfect paint job, think about using a small roller on your drawers. We still have quite a few projects to do. Like we want to make them industrial shelves for holding their books & some decor. I also want to make sliding barn doors for their room & I’m still looking for a free filing cabinet to turn into a industrial side table. But those will all be new blogs – so stay tuned. rustic industrial bedroom reveal
This was our second time installing Stikwood, and it’s literally the easiest. It does take a chunk of time to do, so make sure you start early on a Saturday. But it’s a no brainer. I installed our lst wall, and my husband installed this wall. The impact is absolutely huge though. If you want to see the last wall we did, click here.
The other thing I love about Stikwood is that the planks are thin, so if you can’t afford or get your hands on a table saw, you can use a hand saw. Here’s a link to the exact colour we got for the boys room.
As for the bedding – its all from Beddy’s. They make a revolutionary zip up comforter. The sheet & comforter is all in one and has a cozy minky top layer, so all your kids have to do is zip up their comforter and their bed is perfectly made. How genius is this??? I mean, how many kids do you know that actually make their bed, not to mention properly making it.. I got tired of making 3 kids beds and our bed every single day, so this is a huge win in our home. Here’s a link to the boys bedding and here’s another to a video of how the bedding works.
Hope you guys enjoyed this Rustic Industrial Room Reveal. I love looking at their room down the hall now. Instead of it being this blank white hole, it is so pretty. Can I be a 6 year old boy?
If you love it, I would be honoured if you shared it.
