Styling With Books

April 26, 2020 17 Comments

Happy Sunday Friends. I’ve really enjoyed coming on here almost every day this month. It’s the one place I feel myself in these trying times. It gives me so much joy to DIY and Blog. But today I wanted to talk about styling with books. Often we over complicate decorating our homes. We don’t know how to style shelves, mantles, coffee tables and side tables and honestly, it’s a lot simpler than you might think.

Over thinking styling a room will in turn make it feel busy. I love styling with book because it fills up the white space and honestly, books look good anywhere. I like to style with neutral books. If you don’t have neutral books, you can paint books too or even thrift them.

I’ll be attaching my all time favorite books to decorate with. I also have a lot of antique books that have been passed down over the last century to me that I use on my mantle and shelves.

Things that pair really well with books are plants, vases, wood beads, stems and decorative objects. Styling can be made easy with shopping your local thrift store or even finding old and new books on Marketplace. I will be linking all my favourite home design books below for your convenience.

There’s a list of all the books in my home – most are design books, but they also make great decor too!

I also decorate with a lot of thrifted and antique vases, books and candlesticks!

I like to decorate in groupings of 3. So if you have a stack of books, put a case on top and two candlesticks next to them for a grouping of odd numbers – this is more pleasing to the eye in the design world.

I also like to mix different finishes and colors. Stains, gold and flat black and paints.

I hope this helps in styling your own homes!

Hi! I was seeing from the comments above that the rug is from Loloi Rugs. I’m wondering if you happen to know what style it is? I’m in love with it and I’m currently seeking to purchase a rug. They just don’t transfer properly on photos when online shopping😭
