It feels weird to type Summer 2020 home walk through. How are we here? Didn’t 2020 just begin? As we’re heading into July in a few shorts weeks I’m quickly reminded of how precious time is.
Every season I share my home walk through’s. Here is a list of the seasons I’ve shared in the past:
So much has changed in our home over the last six months. I’ve gotten back into the grove of DIY’s and really taken pride in our home on every level.
So let’s take a walk through our home, shall we?
Immediately you walk into our entrance which is off our living room. We just DIY’d this beautiful bench and board and batten on the other side. We couldn’t be more happy with how it turned out. It sets the tone to our lovely little bungalow.
On the other side of our entrance is this white board and batten wall and our sage door. This entire entrance might be small, but it holds such a punch!
Right off the entrance you land in our living room, the heart of the home. I know, I know, normally the kitchen is the heart of the home. But in our case, our living room is.
And on the other side of the room we have my DIY Rattan Console with our new chairs.
The sofa and two chairs were made by Kavuus and I cannot say enough good things about this furniture. I don’t think I’ve ever owned furniture as good of quality as this. Also, their customer service is impeccable!
I got another set of chair covers for our chairs so I can have the jade cushions or caramel leather.
Also, here are some consoles that look like mine if you don’t want to DIY your own.
Last month we made over our hallway. We painted the top half of the wall in “Simple White” and we painted the bottom in “Maple Walnut”. We then put a piece of moulding to divide the two colours and we blew up mug shots of our four kids and put them in oak frames.
Our home is a tiny 1300 square feet and we have maximized every square inch of our home. We also live very minimally.
There’s been so many changes in our home since the beginning of 2020, but one of my favourite DIY projects to date is the twin room dresser.
When designing this room last Fall, the wallpaper was our starting off point. We wanted this room to feel like a taste of Hawaii.
From there we picked out the kids beds, jute rug and traditional wood dresser ( that ended up getting painted into the above dresser )
All the blinds in our home are from Blinds Galore and I highly recommend them. They’re so well made!
As for our pre-teen boys room, it RARELY looks like this. Normally it smells like stinky pits and boy germs. But here is a shot I got a few months back when I did a deep clean in their room
We even have them in our dining room – these ones are remote control
One place in our home I will be skipping in this walk through is our kitchen. Since we’re a rental, we cannot paint the cabinets or pull out the floor, so there isn’t much to see in that space.
But right off the kitchen is my office which is super teeny tiny, but we made it over in January. I just sold the rug that was in this room as I want something a bit more neutral in this space, but here she is right now.
and right off my office is the laundry room. This room has had a huge overhaul since last year. I’m not even sure if I even included it in the blog last year.
We got a new washer and dryer from Samsung ( stay tuned for a review ), put up these adorable peach decals up and put up this DIY shelf! I actually like doing laundry now!
and lastly… our deck that we just completed this spring. We did a huge overhaul on it last year but left the privacy panels unstained. This year we finished painting the deck and stained the privacy panels. You can find both blogs here:
and that concludes our 2020 Summer Home Walk Through. I left out of pre-teen boys room for obvious reasons and the two bathrooms and kitchen as there isn’t much to see in there.
If you have any questions about anything you see or anything we did, please feel free to leave a question in the comments and I will get back to you!
