It’s Monday – my favorite day of the week! Last week I did a poll in my stories, to see if you would be interested in reading a blog on my fall capsule wardrobe. Well, over 1,700 of you said YES. No need to ask me again 😉[Read more…] about Fall Capsule Wardrobe – Make Getting Dressed Easy
This blog has been one of my most requested blogs over the last few years. I was waiting until I got a clothing rack to do this blog so you could see what my personal capsule wardrobe looks like.
I decided to focus on a spring capsule wardrobe, but honestly, a lot of my pieces go from season to season and summer time I switch out some of the longer tops and jeans for short sleeve T’s and shorts.[Read more…] about Spring Capsule Wardrobe
I’m anything but stylish and I’m totally okay with that. I’ve grown up on Vancouver Island and although it’s been amazing – I would call my style very laid back and beachy. I own under three dresses and nothing overly fancy & I don’t own heels. That being said, I love my style. I love how laid back it is and how you can dress some pieces up or down.
I’m basically going to give you the low down on my style and share my key pieces that I always reach for. Being a mom it’s hard to walk the line of being frumpy but not looking like you’re trying to hard. Ya know?
Before you all judge me for my awkwardness in photos, I purely took these photos so you can see how cute these pieces can be!
So first up, may I introduce you to the sherpa jacket? I didn’t think I needed one. AND I was totally okay with passing by this trend, but my hubs got me this one for Christmas and I’ve worn it almost every day. I wear it with my jammies when I drink my coffee in the morning – or wearing jeans as seen below.
I’m also going to link a few sherpa jackets that I think are super cute below.
Next up is my favourite gold jewelry from Made By Mary With Love. I literally own so many pieces from Sidney and every pieces is made so well – they also don’t tarnish. I wear my necklaces for months on end without even taking them off to shower and they don’t show wear.
In these photos I’m wearing my necklace with my four kids initials stamped on and my other necklace that says “Inhale + Exhale”.
Next up, I love me some good Old Navy pieces.
My good friend Addy got me hooked on these cozy joggers from Old Navy and I have them in the pink and black. For sizing reference, I’m wearing a Large. I’m also wearing my FAVOURITE T from Free People. It’s the “Catalina Long Sleeve”. I got mine from Finders Keep Hers, She’s local to me, but she ships everywhere! I also have the Catalina in a mustard colour too!
You basically need these joggers. So comfy!
Next up is my fav jeans ever. You see me wear them constantly. I love them so much, I have them in black and well as a frayed edge too! I’ll link them all below. The top is I believe called the Weekender from Z Supply. I got it at Finders Keep Hers – they always have them stocked! It’s so cozy. I have the front tucked in, but you could also wear it with leggings an it would cover your bum and hoo-ha! 😉
Below I’ve linked the current model of these jeans. Exact same fit, just this years model. I also linked the other two pairs of jeans I own from AE.
annnnnnnd, my favvvvvv oversized sweater. This one was a close call y’all. Glen accidentally shrunk it in the dryer. It literally shrunk up like 4 sizes – but then I rewashed it and stretched it out and the world become better. PS, not mad at him because he was doing laundry for me and honestly, most men don’t.
This is from “Wishlist” but you can’t buy Wishlist from many places. I bought it from a local store in town.
and lastly, this Free People Top I also grabbed from Finders Keep Hers. It’s the “Tangerine T” It’s so cozy and has thumb holes!
Below I’m attaching all of the direct links below. You can also check out my last blog here to find out about a few of my other key pieces and fav shops!
This blog has been a long time coming. First I was going to do a blog on my favorite summer pieces and now it’s warped into My Favorite Fall Pieces. I finally got my crap together to blog about it. I never thought about blogging about my wardrobe, but I’ve gotten message after message of people asking me to blog about it, so here you go. I hope this blog will be interesting enough 😉
A lot of you know that I like to do ‘Capsule Wardrobes’. If you do not know what that is, here is a mini description:
“The minimalist way to downsize your wardrobe to a capsule of 37 pieces and always have something to wear.“
I don’t really tend to stick to a strict 37 pieces, but I do keep the mentality of buying or recycling ( from previous seasons ) a few of my all time favourite pieces that I know I will wear over and over again. Sometimes It’s less than 37 pieces and sometimes it’s more. I like to buy quality pieces over quantity of pieces. I know many who seem to buy buy buy and never stop buying. I honestly do not have the budget for that so I purchase a few key pieces throughout the years that I absolutely cannot live without and then recycle those throughout the months and years. We also have a small home, so I mostly only buy things that I absolutely love because I don’t have places to store things.
A few months ago I stepped into Finders Keep Her’s and purchased these overalls and this hat. This store has been one of my favorite stores for years because I know how hard the Owner works to curate beautiful pieces and she only purchases high end and quality pieces. I knew that I would be wearing them over and over again and the price tag to me is worth it as I will probably wear them for years.
Same thing with my favourite Anorak Jacket that you’ve seen me wear for 6+ years. In 2013 I purchased the “Trooper” jacket from Aritzia and I wore it for five years almost every day and Glen just replaced it and gave me a new Trooper jacket for Christmas of 2017. I like to buy key pieces that I know wont fade out over the years.
You might think ‘I could never spend that kind of money on a piece of clothing’. But when you KNOW that you will only make a few key purchases a year and that the said piece will be worn over and over again, it’s totally worth it in my books. I also only purchase items that I’ve thought about for a super long time and I LOVE.
Again, quality over quantity.
At the same time I purchased my Z Supply overalls and hat, I also tried on this Free People top. I literally couldn’t stop thinking about it and snagged it a while later.
Pants: “Mom Jean” American Eagle
Also, I love how the “style” right now is pretty comfy. I’m super into scrunchies, oversized sweaters and rompers right now.
One of my all time favourite rompers is from Urban Baby Apparel. I normally wear it around the house, but I recently wore it out in the City with an oversized cardigan, some big hoop earrings and my booties. They are so versatile but honestly being a mom of four, comfort is the most important component when I decide what to wear. FYI – She’s currently sold out of Mama Rompers, but will be coming back with another drop soon. So make sure you follow her on Instagram to get all the deets. Favourite Fall pieces
Purse / Diaper Bag: Fawn Design
Booties: Call it Spring
Cardigan: Old Navy
A lot of my pieces are from past years, so I’ve linked the new versions for your convenience. I continually use these pieces in my fall wardrobe capsules and winter capsules and even into spring, so they get a ton of use. I got my favourite booties in the West Edmonton Mall while visiting my sister when my niece was born in 2016. Favourite Fall pieces
Next, I had to talk about these pants because I wear them throughout all the seasons and I’ve owned them since summer of 2015. They’re from Jbrand and they’re mid rise which I love, sucks in all the mom goods. Here’s a similar verison of their newest style. I actually love the fray at the bottoms of the jeans. They’re also a super strength cotton with a tad bit of stretch. I just love the wash on these jeans and I love that they haven’t faded over the years. Favourite Fall pieces

Jean Shirt: Bandana Bandit Button Down – Free People
Ring: Handmade Jade Double Ring – Finders Keep Hers Boutique
White T in Second Photo – Aster Henley – Free People
Purse in Second Photo: Handmade Jolene Bag – Finders Keep Hers Boutique
I also thought I should mention this Kimono as I purchased it in August of 2017 for my Brother and Sister-In-Laws Wedding to wear it with a black maternity dress and it’s probably one of my most worn pieces as well.
I grabbed it on sale at Pink Blush, they carry them in the Maternity Section and Non Maternity section and I think it might of been like 30-something dollars. I’ve used it as a swim coverup, at weddings, to church, to dress up a plain pair of jeans and a shirt. The possibilities are endless. Grab one that you love the print of and that is timeless and I promise it will be a piece that you will wear a ton of! Favourite Fall pieces
And Lastly, I thought I should talk a bit about one of my new favorite brands ( From Zion ). They make such beautiful bamboo clothing and right now she’s having a hefty 40% off.
I’ve been living in these clothes as you know I love to be super comfy. I’m kinda proud of myself, I’ve only been wearing my pajamas to bed lately and not all day. That work at home life really is hard to transition into real clothes you know.
Both leggings and tunic are From Zion and of course, the booties I talked about above. I’m also loving Bunhead Scrunchies right now. Gives you the ultimate 90’s now Millennial Look 😉 Favourite Fall pieces
If you liked this blog, I would love if you pinned it!
I’m loving how you guys have just been going with the flow. It’s been a big stretch for you guys to hear me talk solely about home decor and DIY to now, in the last year, hear about it all. So THANK YOU for being such an amazing crowd.
I’d love to hear from you, what is your favourite pieces right now? Favourite Fall pieces
Hey friends, I trust you’re all having an amazing week. I’m not going to lie, January & february have been really hard for me. I wish I had it all togeher, but I mean, who does?
I especially feel like I’m falling apart at the seams lately. So much to do, not enough time or money.
Recently I grabbed a copy of Jo’s new “Journal”. It’s literally packed full of goodness, but something that stood out to me was the “Capsule Wardrobe”. Since I was young, I often felt like the more pieces I accumulated the more put together I might feel. Even if I didn’t really like or wear them. I would hold onto pieces that either no longer fit, or I didn’t like anymore because they filled up my closet and made me feel somewhat good about myself. Turns out, this practice that most of us do really has the opposite affect. It leaves us feeling empty, confused and cluttered. Not only that, but when you want to actually get dressed, it makes the desision harder.
As soon as I read this article, I knew that I had to empty my closet and dresser that day. I started in my closet and decided if I would wear it in the next week. If the question was no, I put it in my giveaway pile. The only exception for that rule was, summer clothes. Clearly I can’t be wearing shorts in the snow. All my summer clothes that I knew I would wear, I folded neatly and put in a bin on the top shelf of my closet.
As for my fall/winter//spring clothes I thought about each piece. I only kept pieces that I really loved and wore once a week or more. A lot of you might find this wasteful, but the process was invigorating and felt so amazing. I also didn’t just throw my clothes away, I folded them all up neat and gave them to my local womens shelter. Double win in my books.
This whole idea stems from Caroline over at Un-Fancy. The idea is you have 37 pieces of clothes ( that include shoes ). These pieces will be curated and you can switch them up and match them. They will be good quality pieces that will be timeless and classic. I know most of us grew up thinking that buying more articles of clothing was so much better than spending more on one well designed, quality piece. Well Caroline is here to smash that theory. It will leave you feeling overwhelmed when trying to get dressed.
Once my computer is up and running I will be doing another post to this blog on the clothes that I kept & why. I think it is super important to declutter our lives and live more simply. Life is hard enough without taking 30 minutes to decide what to wear. Am I right?
I hope you enjoyed this post and my thoughts on what this new Capsule Wardrobe is so important.
Let me know if you decide to take the purge too!
