Hello! Now that I’ve a working computer and it’s a desktop I just want to blog constantly, but don’t worry – I will spare you the constant updates. But I really wanted to blog about Easy Tips to Decorate for Spring.
Seeing as this weekend it’s officially spring, I thought I would blog about how I decorated for spring in our master bedroom. I’m not one of those women who totally revamp my spaces for every season. That just isn’t me and honestly, I don’t even have enough decor to do that. I use my key favourite pieces every season, and just revise a few things.
For starters in our master bedroom, I changed out our duvet for this duvet. I added the link for the white duvet as they no longer carry this color, but they do have another shade of blue. I’ve had this duvet since I was six months pregnant with Brinley and it really only comes out to play in warmer months. It’s a HUGE pop of color, so if wanting to bring in color for a bedspread, you’re going to want to make sure that your walls and larger pieces in your room are toned down and not colourful. As you can see, I still kept all of our pillows white, because I think too much blue would be overboard. I like how this color is also in our rug, but more muted. Honestly, I didn’t plan this, but when I buy decor, I make sure I absolutely love it and you can tell what my favourite color is – you guessed it, seafoam!
I’ve talked about my Capsule Wardrobe here, and decorating is kind of the same thing. I buy key curated pieces that I know I love. I don’t buy stuff because it’s on sale, or cheap.. I only buy what I absolutely love because I think if you sacrifice quality and style for a discount, you will be very unhappy in the long run.
So yes, this means buying less, and buying fewer.. but it leads to holding on to decor for a much longer period of time, and not growing tired of it as you’re so in love with the pieces you picked. Right?
A few weeks ago I brought my seafoam throw blanket out of storage as well as my colourful design books. They’re simple pieces that completely changes the dynamic of my room, yet did this makeover cost me anything? Absolutely not.
I’m kind of a Instagram junkie, and 9 out of 10 times I see my friends buying spring or winter decor and completely replacing their old decor. This is totally okay, but so expensive and I for one can’t afford this. So I’ve curated a few pieces that I bring in each year.
Florals also play a HUGE roll in room makeovers. I currently have these flowers coming to me, these faux “real silk” flowers have great ratings, so I’m excited to try them out.. especially because they were so cheap. So once they arrive, I will be switching our my boxwood on my nightstand for my faux peonies.
If wanting to purchase my rug in our bedroom, it’s on clearance right now. It’s such good quality for the price and best yet, they ship to Canada! Here’s the link.
Now a question I’ve had in he past is how would I decorate for winter since this rug has so much blue in it? I would pull out the cream and beige in the rug and play on that. Christmas doesn’t have to be all red and green. It’s fun to sometimes have a traditional Christmas, but for our bedroom I usually stay pretty neutral and creamy.
As you can tell from my decor and furniture it’s all very neutral, so adding color for the season is really simple for me. I really urge you to think practically like that – It will make decorating so much easier!
Also, I have to laugh at this photo, you can totally see the yellow wall I haven’t had time to paint in my room yet. Yep, that was the color of my room before we moved in and I had the worst time adding color. Whenever I even added a throw blanket with color I felt like I was in candy land.
If wondering what paint color is on the walls, it’s Alabaster from Sherwin Williams.
