Our Stay At Fairmont Waterfront Vancouver

September 21, 2018 4 Comments

As most of you know, our youngest was in the NICU back in February. We were told we would be there indefinitely until they could figure out what was wrong, but then we lucked out and we got to go home after only eight days. They told us there would be ongoing appointments in the future so we should prepare for that.

Fast forward 6.5 months and we just completed our first set of appointments at Children’s. We were pretty lucky to be given a paid-in-full set of two rooms ( joined ) for us to enjoy for two days at Fairmont Waterfront.

Imagine the kids surprise when they opened the door to their 5-star-room and saw a teepee and fire set up and a charcuterie board filled with cupcakes, candy and baked goods. The team at Fairmont Waterfront went way overboard in making our stay extra special. They even had six housecoats hanging in the closet and somehow had one that fit each kid perfectly. We felt so spoiled!

Everything at this hotel screams 5 star. From the service and the friendly faces round the clock to room service to the front desk agents – even our waitress who made us laugh pretty hard during our quick one on one date at the ARC Dining Bar while Glens sister watched the kids upstairs. I grabbed a blended daiquiri ( that wasn’t ultra sweet ) and Glen got a pale ale paired with a charcuterie board of cheeses and meats. So yummy!

Thinking back I really don’t think I’ve ever stayed in a hotel where all the stars aligned and you were truly happy with your hotel stay, but I guess this is why they call this a 5 Star Hotel. It truly was.

The first night there, Glen and I ordered two drinks to our room.  But if you would rather not pay for fine dining, there is a food court in the hotel and Canada Place is across the street with Starbucks, Tim Hortons and a few other venues.

Our room at the Fairmont Waterfront had the most beautiful view of the harbour and we got to watch the cruise ships come in and out and the barges tug goods around. The kids also thought it was super cool to see all these big ships up close. We got to stay on the tenth floor and the kids enjoyed watching all the “tiny people” walk around.

Wednesday was filled with appointments at the Children’s hospital and that will be for another blog as you know I like to elaborate. But once done at the hospital in the late afternoon, we promised the kiddos a swim in the rooftop pool.

You guys, the pool was on the third floor rooftop and we had beautiful views of the mountains and high rises surrounding us – it was so gorgeous!

All in all, we would stay here in a heartbeat. The staff, hotel and location surpassed our expectations and we felt like royalty.

I think it will be a time my kids will remember very fondly and I wanted to give a special shout out to one of the men that was on the Valet team. Immediately when we pulled up on Tuesday night he was beyond friendly and connected with us on our large family and location and our NICU experience, he connected with us on a personal level and seemed like he really loved his job. The entire stay there he made an effort to talk and connect with each one of our kids. I wish I could remember his name, but know that when you go to this hotel, you will be taken care of and wont just be another visitor.

Glamping At The Beach Club Resort

Glamping At The Beach Club Resort

Last week our middle baby turned FIVE. How is that even possible? I swear he was just a baby yesterday.. In fact, I think I still treat him as so. We wanted to do something big for his birthday because he thought throughout the year that everyday was his 5th birthday and every day we had to tell him that it wasn’t. I had been chatting with The Beach Club Resort and they said that they had a perfect room for the perfect birthday boy. So we packed our bags and at the last minute, we told him that we were going to stay in a hotel. You can imagine his little heart explode.

A little background, in 2014-2015 we used to hand deliver our clients furniture to their home. We often had to stay in a hotel in Victoria or Vancouver up to twice a month. It’s been a year since we’ve had to do this and our boys ask frequently if we will be staying in a hotel. So this little surprise was so fun to give him!

We arrived at the hotel around 5 pm and were in awe of the views in the room and the size of the suites. The boys immediately wanted to go jump in the pool and spend over an hour diving and dog paddling in the water. Which in turn pooped them right out, so we were unable to test out the restaurant downstairs.

We decided to order pizza in and then went out to grab a ice-cream cake from Dairy Queen. These suites come with a full kitchen with a fridge/freezer, dishwasher, double sinks and oven. This would be the ideal place to stay long term.

Each suite is decked out with a table and a bar, so a ton of places to sit. We ate our ice-cream cake and then read some books. We turned the AC up because we wanted to turn the fire on while we read our books.

The suite is truly luxurious. Decked out with two bathrooms, a washing machine & dryer, a master suite, patio with table, fireplace, jet tub and a gorgeous full kitchen.

Glen and I watched a movie in our bedroom ( which is sound proof from the living room ) and we sat on our deck and enjoyed the gorgeous views from the deck. Our sleep was very delightful. My only negative factor about this entire stay was that I found the mattress very uncomfortable. We have a king pillow top mattress at home and we’re both accustomed to the pillow top. If you like  firm mattress – I’m sure the bed would be ideal!

In the morning we ordered room service. Two eggs benny & two waffles with blueberry drizzle and whipped cream. It was absolutely scrumptious.

All in all, we had an amazing stay at The Beach Club Resort and we would totally stay here again. I’d rate the hotel a 9.5/10

Thank you so much to The Beach Club Resort for sponsoring this post & giving us a free nights stay. We will be back!

All opinions & thoughts are absolutely my own and I believe in honesty and integrity.
