How To Live With White ( When You Have Kids & Pets )

October 31, 2017 5 Comments

We all have those people in our lives who make comments about how they don’t know how we have white duvets, sofas, pillows and rugs when we have little ones running about. I’m here to tell you WHY this is the BEST colour in the world to have when you have young kids and pets. I’m also going to share a few ways that I like to live with this colour and clean it.

How to Live With White When you have kids and pets , white farmhouse decor, white bedding, white furniture, slipcovered white sofas, easy white decorating

I personally have almost 4 kids under 8 + a cat & still I prefer white over anything.

Cotton Stem Interiors

Erin from Cotton Stem Interiors actually has four little girls if you can believe it. I know that she’s also had this statement so many times and here is the truth. Sofas like this Ikea Ektorp sofa have zip off covers. The reason I think white is the best colour when you have small kids is because you can throw it in the wash and bleach it. You do not have that option with any other colour. White is so simple to clean because you can throw it in the wash and you’re done. The other thing I love about white is that it doesn’t hide anything. Imagine having a grey or dark sofa and not knowing what stains are actually on your sofa.

The next thing I love about white is that it matches everything.

Liz Marie Blog

If you follow Liz on Instagram you’ll know that she has two small dogs and a goat named Grace that are constantly in her home. Liz is known for her lack of colour and how beautiful her homes look with so many different shades of creams and whites. The thing is, if you can bleach it – it’s safe.

Her sofas are all slip covered, so she can easily throw into the wash.

So, here’s a breakdown on WHY white is the best.

  1. You can bleach it – easy wash.
  2. You can flip it ( Duvets, gives it extra life before you throw it in the wash )
  3. Buying slip covered sofas you can easily wash, so you know you have a clean sofa
  4. It’s ultra easy to decorate with and matches everything

Now, I thought I’d take you down memory lane and my love for white. Of course, my budget is literally non existent, and if it was, I’d have a full house of white everything. But for now, this is how I incorporate white into my homes.

A Walk By the Ocean With Mountain Buggy

October 18, 2016 Leave a Comment

This blog is sponsored by Mountain Buggy. I am not paid to endorse their product and all thoughts and words are my honest opinion.

The last few weeks we’ve been going pretty hard to get orders out the door. With the help of some amazing men we are contracting orders out to – we’ve somehow got TEN orders out just last week alone.

The list is winding down and I’m so happy that we can now offer a much faster, efficient and stress free service. Can I get a Amen?

As Glen has worked many weekends in the last few months, we decided to take today off. I had a few appointments and I really wanted to take advantage of the little break in rain that we’ve been having.

I mean, It’s normal for it to rain where I live, I feel like it rains 50% of the time. But it’s been raining SUPER hard lately and we dodged a massive hurricane that was set to hit us on the weekend – thank goodness!

We went and grabbed doughnuts and parked at the sea walk to enjoy the fresh air. We were super lucky to be given this amazing Urban Mountain Buggy. The features astound me. From the handle bar that can lower or higher ( basically, it would be an amazing stroller if you are 6’5, and an amazing stroller if you are 5’0 )

Mountain Buggy

The tires are pumped full of air, and this stroller is a breeze to push, which I will LOVE as soon I have another little bundle to carry around in my wrap, so I’m going to want a hand free for baby, or a latte – whichever needs me 😉

I absolutely LOVE the seat pattern too. It’s what first drew me to this stroller. I have owned a 2009 Double Mountain Buggy and it’s amazing how far this company has come since then. This stroller is amazing for how small it folds up

Mountain Buggy Stroller Review, Best Stroller Ever

A few reasons why I love this stroller

-25 Pounds

-Folded dimensions: 34.6 x 24.8 x 12″ . Will basically fit in any vehicle.

-SUPER easy hand break on the top of the handlebar. Clicks to lock.

-Leather handlebar, straps and handlebar. So much more durable and high class looking.

-Reversible Liners, also SUPER easy to strip off and wash for those messy kids.

-5 point harness

-The suspension is incredible. Amazing stroller for trails, beach – you name it!

I think this is one of my favourite, easy to push and small folding strollers I’ve ever owned. It totally beats the Bob Revolution and the CityMini!

Finding Balance & [ Lily Jade Giveaway ]

April 21, 2016 2 Comments

I gotta say that this post isn’t going to sound like I’ve got it all together, because I don’t. Being a mom is probably one of the best gifts life has given me. But, the most trying. I always swore as a child that I would never have children and then when life threw me a curveball and I had our first, I realized, what if I had never experienced this? If you’re blessed to be a mother, do not take it for granted, because there are millions of women wanting to take your place.

The Land Of Nod Makes Rooms So Dreamy

April 6, 2016 9 Comments

Since having children I’ve drooled over The Land Of Nod decor and furniture. If you haven’t checked out their website, you need to. The boys badly needed new bedding and I had dreamt of a mid century light fixture for their room. Well, they had one that fit the ticket. It’s such a stunning copper color. Once I refinish the boys dresser, I’ll be spray painting the modern knobs copper. I also want to incorporate industrial curtain rods into their room and again, will be spraying them copper. Get my theme here? Kind of into copper at the moment. The land Of Nod, The land of Nod DIY, Cheap Decor, Easy Decor, Stylish boy bedrooms, Bedroom reveal with The land of Nod

Isn’t it so perfect for a little boys room? I am dying over it. It’s funny because I would of never picked it for my living room as I’m not a mid century fan. But for the boys bedroom, I don’t think there could be a more prefect light fixture. Am I right? best of all – it is so affordable!

I feel like it ties in perfectly with the boys camping theme. If you check out their new duvets & Sheets, they’re camping theme. With little Evergreen pillows. Yes, dying all over. I swear, designing kids rooms makes my heart skip a beat. the land of nod

Land Of Nod

The boys are a huge fan of the outdoors. If you even mention fishing they go a bit crazy. I’m talking, running all over the house, asking what flannel will best suit the job so they can catch maximum fish, forgetting that there’s anyone around them, crazy. So this camping bedding is right up their alley. The Land Of Nod was so amazing and sponsored this entire post. So when asked what we wanted to fill their room with, the boys got to help in the process of picking their bedding. I tried to explain to them that it was coming from the States. Hudson (6) kept saying, “It’s coming from down there, Cai. Where DisneyLand and Hawaii and the Airport is” Apparently  all of the US is situated in the same area.. haha…. kids are too funny!

Land Of Nod, Twin Bedding, Tree Pillow

They also sent these adorable bins. 1, 2, 3 & 4. We will be putting them on their little media/toy stand on the other side of the room. But guyyyys, I can’t show you that side. I gotta keep some things unseen for the big reveal next week. Yes, we’re hoping to have their bedroom completely finished by mid next week. These two are very lucky to have their room sponsored by so many amazing businesses. Oh, and yes, lucky to have parents who can build furniture. See that House Bed above? Yes, we built it for 53 dollars. Crazy, right?!??! 53 dollars… You can’t even go out to eat for that these days. If you have a drill & hands, go and make it now!

I also thought I would take a close-up of the kids wall art. We had it custom made by an amazing woman who owns “Barn Door Decor”. Check her out on facebook. But if you’re from the states, you can check out “House of Belonging”. She makes similar work. We placed it above the boys bed as I thought it would be a perfect reminder for them as they wake up every day.

I hope you enjoyed this sponsored post. The Land of Nod truly has the dreamiest decor for babies & kids and best yet, it’s so affordable. Stay tuned for our big room reveal next week.
