Farmhouse Patio Planters

February 1, 2017 9 Comments

Hey friends! I know my last post was a little lame. I do want to check in more,  but lately things have been crazy. So crazy that I haven’t had much time to write a decent blog post. We have been working on these planter boxes since last november and I finally made Glen finish them for me so I could paint and distress them. We have had these cute little boxwoods for almost two years so I knew as soon as we moved into our  home that I wanted to pop them in two cute planters.

Also see our Restoration Hardware Inspired Planter.

I know some people don’t like distressed rough looking pieces, but I couldn’t love these more. I didn’t even sand them as I wanted the paint to look authentic and really “Farmhouse”. They’re such a show stopper when you drive past our home. I’m just waiting for my favourite dark wax to come back into stock so i can add some to each box.

Before we completed these farmhouse planters, we had some more modern faux cement planters from Canadian Tire. They were such crappy quality and were so expensive. One actually broke in a storm. These new planters are pretty indestructible!

I want my patio to feel super inviting as we often have clients, friends and family stop by. So I have this outdoor sofa on my deck that we purchased two years ago. Two oversized pillows ( they are actually indoor pillows ) and my throw. I also threw up my “Farmhouse” DIY sign and a spring wreath.

What do you think of the planter boxes? To be honest… we didn’t really follow a tutorial, but I’m sure if you wanted I could dig one up somewhere on the internet, or make one for you! They’re easy peasy!

Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to pop onto the blog – it means so much!

West Elm Inspired Plant Stand

April 30, 2016 1 Comment

Have y’all seen these modern/mid century plant stands? West Elm has inspired millions and I’m here to grind out an easy, fool proof tutorial that anyone can do. Did you see what I said there? Anyone can do. So gear up and make this plant stand with me.

Also check out our Restoration Hardware Inspired Planter.

I’ve got some issues. I love my farmhouse, distressed, grungy style.. but then I also am starting to love modern, mid century pieces. HELP. These two styles are so far apart. One has unclean lines and one has clean lines. How to mix these two styles is beyond me. I’m going to have to pick a style here soon or I’ll be in trouble. My house isn’t flowing to well these days. See here.
