Hey friends! Today has been a good day. I learnt how to properly shoot on my camera & instead of turning the ISO way up, I’m turning the shutter speed way down. Hurray! I know that probably means nothing to you, it just means cleaner and crisper photos for all of us to see!
I wanted to pop on today to talk about this STUNNING Restoration Hardware Inspired Console that my husband build. We really wanted our console and media stand to match as they are in pretty close proximity to each other and this is what we ended up with.
I mean… can you even? He literally did such an amazing job. I think sanded, stained, dry brushed and varnished it. I think it’s a pretty dang perfect piece, here’s the original. I wanted to beat up our console too, but our clients don’t really like seeing something beat up, they think it looks sloppy. So we have to our our pieces a little more clean looking.

I picked a lightly stain for ours as I felt the above stain was too dark for our room as we already have pretty dark floors and not a ton of natural light in the middle of our home. I also dry brushed it too as you can see in this closer up photo
I love how subtle the dry brushing is, you can barely see it as I rubbed it in after I did it. I wanted this piece to look as natural as possible. I love pronounced dry brushing, but it can look not very natural at times.
Sometimes I’m just amazed at how talented my husband is. I mean, most wives can’t just pop onto Restoration Hardware, one of the most desired furniture stores on the net and pick a piece that they want replicated. I mean… how crazy is that?!
If you’re also local to us, we would love to build one for you, message us here to chat about how to book in for one.
Of course, thank you so so much for always stopping by, leaving comments & loving on me. This blog is one of my favourite spots to hang out – and I feel kind of shocked that so many of you still keep coming back.
SO THANK YOU.
