Hello Everyone! I hope your Holidays were wonderful! I wrote the below blog last week and at the very bottom of this blog I will give you my 1.5 week post review.
We had such a lovely time celebrating with our huge extended family. We even got to celebrate for a few days up the mountain with Glens side of the family. Truly blessed. Below are a few shots of us hiking up to our Chalet ( Sans our three older kids as Glen mom had them! – What a treat! )
I’ve been super nervous to write to you guys. I don’t know why? Maybe because there’s a stigma around CBD. Maybe because I’m a Christian? Not that that has ANYTHING to do with it, especially since Marijuana is now legalized in Canada. I’m not really sure. But to be honest, there is nothing ‘sinful’ or wrong about using CBD. It’s natural, it’s legal and later on in this blog I’ll chat about how CBD cannot get you high as it has extremely low levels of THC ( the component that gets you ‘high’ ). It doesn’t alter your mind & it’s purely used for it calming and medical properties. But today I’ll be talking about CBD from Hemp.
Last week I talked in my stories about CBD and how I’ve partnered with Every Day Optimal to review their product. I thought thousands of followers would unfollow me and I thought I would receive a TON of backlash, but honestly, I didn’t even receive one rude message. Not only that, but I had message after message flood my inbox on their victories using CBD. People struggling with severe anxiety or depression. People who haven’t been able to sleep in years and finally have been able to get a good night sleep. People with severe pain. People with Fibromayalgia. People with Chrons, Disc Pain, Seizures and the list goes on and on. Yes, these were REAL people who messaged me with no agenda singing the praises of CBD.
I also had a few people message me telling me that they’re now using CBD on their kids. One mama chatted about how her son has dealt with severe ADHD his entire life and other issues – since taking a small dose of CBD a day he’s “normal” and mellow. They’ve been able to completely cut out the toxic medications he was on that were causing so many other issues. How amazing is that?
Another friend I know uses CBD Oil from Marijuana on her little girl and she’s now been seizure free for a entire year and off the heavy medications she was on.
Okay, so before we dive in, I just wanted to say that I’m in NO WAY an expert. I’ve only been using CBD for roughly over a week, but I will be chatting about my brief experience.
But first off, I want to get something clear. The CBD I’m using is made from the Hemp Plant. The Hemp plant and the Marijuana plant are in the same family – but completely different plants.
Hemp has less than 0.3% THC and licensed cannabis producers offer CBD strains and oils that are derived from the Marijuana plant, which can legally contain THC levels up to 30%
Hemp can produce a CBD concentration of around 3.5%. One would have to ingest a lot of it compared to certain LP cannabis strains where the CBD content in the plant is as high as 18-20%.
Also, before we dive in further, CBD is non-psychoactive chemical of the cannabis/hemp plant. Meaning it CANNOT get you high.
“Marijuana is harvested for its buds, which contains psychoactive properties known to produce stoned effects. When it comes to hemp, the stalks and seed are the targets of this crop. These plants do not contain enough THC to get anyone high. In fact, for cannabis to be considered hemp, it must have no more than 0.3 percent THC.”
Okay, so lets chat on what I love about CBD.
I’ve wanted to try CBD for over a year but like most Americans and Canadians, I didn’t know a ton about the industry and it’s a bit taboo, so I didn’t dive any deeper.
One day, Every Day Optimal reached out to see if I had any interest in trying their product and I jumped at the opportunity! I started taking both the gummies and tincture oil the day I received it in the mail!
I received these gummies and this tincture oil.
The first day I took one gummy in the morning. I had woken up with a ton of back pain, neck pain and a bit of vertigo. I was hoping it might help those symptoms. I didn’t really feel it working all day until my husband mentioned that I hadn’t complained about back pain all day and he thought I was more mellow.
The next day I tried the tincture oil and used half a dropper full and let it sit under my tongue for 30 seconds before I swallowed. Yet again, another pain free and mellow day.
I’m now on day five as I write this and I’ve overall been quite a bit more mellow, less snappy and haven’t had much back pain in the last five days.
I’m on the lowest dose that Every Day Optimal offers, so if you are dealing with more serious issues, I would recommend getting something more potent.
I would like you guys to stay tuned on my journey with CBD as I am hoping to replace my Anxiety medication completely with CBD by April 2019.
Thank you for taking time to pop by the blog today and I hope this helped you understand the difference between the two different CBD sources and what CBD from either source can do for you!
Do you use CBD? Have a success story? I’d love to hear in the comments!
ADDED:
It’s now a week since I wrote this blog and I wanted to write my experience since writing this blog.
I’ve had a lot less pain in my back. I deal with a lot of back pain from my very large chest. I usually wake up sore from the combination of Rhett sleeping in my arms and my chest. Well – it’s helped a lot with that. I also have been less snappy and overall more mellow. I do think to see a real huge impact, I need to take a stronger dose as I can only see slight differences here and there. But it’s crazy how this has helped me how it has. I think it’s an amazing resource instead of taking pain killers, antidepressants and other harsh drugs. Although keep in mind, if you do take those, absolutely NO judgement from me.
I’m still on a very low dose of anxiety medication, but I hope to wean off slowly in the next four months.
Hi Jessica I am a first time commenter on your website. I find you are a very real down to earth person. I also love your decorating style. Thank you for your honesty on all the topics you share. One thing I would like to share with you if you are tapering off of an antidepressant please do it slowly, of course this depends on how long you have been on this medication. I wish you great success with the CBD keep me posted as I am thinking of taking CBD also. Thank you
Hello Debbie and thank you so much for taking time to comment!
I weaned off them over a 5 month period back last year. This time I’m on a smaller dose, so hope to be off the by March! Fingers crossed!
Good luck in your adventure trying CBD!
This is great. My daughter gave me some dummies before and I was more mellow. I as well am taking a daily anxiety medicine and have for many years. I tried to get off the meds. a few years ago and let’s just say it wasn’t pretty. I wasn’t myself and I felt really “off”, if that makes sense. I want to try dummies or oil daily, but, I am afraid I will come up “positive” on a drug screen. The company I work for does random drug screening all the time. Do you have an insight on this? I have back, neck pain and we just purchased a new bed (thinking the mattress was the problem). Ugh, it is so frustrating. I am in HR at my job and I am scared that CBD will show up. I read your blogs all the time, love your decorating style, family is adorable! I hope you are having a great holiday season!!!!!
Regards from Kansas!
Hey Susan! Thank you for stopping by the blog!
So as for showing positive on a drug test, it will come back negative if using CBD from hemp as the THC levels are so minuscule.
You can also get it through your decor, it’s used for medical purposes too!
I hope you can find results using CBD. I’d recommended chatting with someone from Every Day Optimal about your symptoms so they can gear you towards the best dosage!
Thank you for your kind words – I hope you are having amazing Holidays! ❤️
Hi Jess
Are you still using these products, and if so, have you had to change them up at all? Thank you for your honest review.
I haven’t because they can no longer ship to Canada
