Vintage and Organic 2020 Holiday Home Tour

December 5, 2020 4 Comments

Today I’m super excited to share my third annual Holiday Home Tour!

If you’re new to the blog, usually every season I do a tour of our home since it’s ever-changing. Here is the 2018 tour, the 2019 tour and now the 2020 Holiday home tour!

Every year I showcase how I decorate. This year I’ve gone more minimal and organic. I didn’t buy really anything this year and I DIY’d and thrifted a ton of my pieces. My hope in sharing our home is that you’re inspired to create beauty in your own space

So without further ado, lets head into my 2020 holiday home tour!

2020 Holiday Home Tour

This year, I really wanted to use a lot of organic greenery in our home. In paste years I went white with a flocked tree and garland, but I wanted to incorporate a lot more real greens into our home.

I made our wreath on the front door and try to replicate the cypress crate and barrel wreath. I didn’t eliminate flocked trees all together as I still utilized them on our front steps.

I also really wanted to incorporate a lot of thrifted finds this year as it gives a space a really cozy feel.

The Entrance

This bench is on the right side of our teeny tiny entry as soon as you walk in. We built this bench back in spring [ tutorial here ] and it’s still so fun to decorate for all the seasons. The big baskets are awesome for storage and the bench serves as a seat when the kids are putting on their shoes!

On the other side of our teeny entrance ( you can tell how small it is from their view ), we put up this board and batten mid-year. [ tutorial here ] I hung up this gold mirror with a real cypress garland and called it a day. Then a few weeks later I restyled it with a pair of vintage skates I thrifted.

The fun in not spending anything on Holiday decor is that you can continue to restyle your home without feeling guilty! I also get tired of a look after a few weeks, so it’s such a fun way for me to switch things up!

The Living Room

In our living room, I added a festive print on our TV, the fir tree from Gluckstein Home and a handmade garland, [ tutorial here ]

I really wanted our home to feel organic and natural this year and I’ll say since our decor has now been up for four weeks, that I’m still so happy with it.

This time of year our home is really really dark so I wanted a lot of layers and different textures in all the rooms to make it feel cozy!

The Hallway

The wreaths on the doors were an after thought and I’m so glad I put them up. They add such a cozy vibe to our long hallway. We have four doors in our hall and I added these real pine wreaths to each door. They also have blush ribbon and two bells. The smell throughout our hall is pretty magical!

The Boys Room

In the boy’s bedroom, I plopped a tree in and called it a day! Honestly, though, they have this big beautiful mountain mural on their wall as well as tree accent pillows so I felt it was all so festive!

This baby tree actually isn’t staying in here though. Every Christmas in early December we go to the Tree Farm and our kids pick out a tree for their rooms!

The Master Bedroom

In the master bedroom, I added a green velvet lumbar on the bed, those tiny cedar trees on each side table as well as the fresh boughs over our lights!

Honestly, my decorating this year has been pretty lazy but I get very claustrophobic with too much going on so the simple touches are perfect for our space!

I didn’t realize how pushed over to the left our bed was, so the sconces are a bit off-center.. but I love this view of our bed!

On the other side of our room, I added a festive print on our TV and pinecones. Yep, this is literally all the decorating I did on this side of the room!

The Dining Room

Our dining room has been SUCH a huge transformation these past few months. We built the built-in seating [ tutorial here ] and then we built a new table and also put up this picture frame moulding [ DIY here ]

and that’s it for my 2020 Holiday home tour! I haven’t done anything in the kitchen or the laundry room and we’re in the process of making over the twin room so I didn’t photograph these three rooms!

I hope this inspires you to bring nature into your home and go thrifting for some unique treasures!

If this blog inspires you, shares and pins are always welcome!

It’s all so beautiful Jess! Uncluttered, simple, and yet so cozy. It’s a place I would want to hang out in and enjoy the Christmas season. You nailed it!. So often we go so overboard with decorating and then we get tired of it and claustrophobic, and can’t wait to take it all down. This look feels takes us back in time to when things were perhaps simpler and more focused on what really matters.

Thanks Mom. Those are my thoughts exactly. Bringing nature in and letting it do the work
