Being an Interior Designer and neat freak at heart, I love keeping my home clean. It’s not so much a chore as it really just makes my heart happy!
But, with four kiddos, a man-child and a cat that sheds, the cleaning is endless.
I thought it would be fun to take you all through my typical day.
A Typical Day
I wake up and my husband brings me a cup of Joe. That cup usually ends up getting gulped down cold as I’m constantly picking something up or dealing with an argument, or answering work emails.
After my coffee is completed, the energy has set in. I usually pick up the vacuum and do a once over on all my floors, then I go into the laundry room and put a load of laundry in. If you are a mom of many, you know that the laundry never ends and the cleaning never ends. There’s always a door to wash down, something to vacuum or something to put away. I then go into all the rooms and make the beds and then it’s time to sit down and work on the computer for a few hours. Being the main bread winner in our home, I make sure my time is prioritized well but I still make sure there is time for myself. I love doing any type of DIY project and this too has become a staple in my day. Since I work from home I try to set a routine in my day so I know what to exoect each day. Between meals, laundry, work and dealing with the kiddos, there isn’t much free time left. This is why I’m going to tell you about how I’ve started to work smarter and not harder.
Did you know that washing machines are just getting larger and larger?
I was surprised when I found this out, but. I get it. With women mostly working out of the home now ( or from home ) we no longer have the time to spend doing laundry. They’re making bigger washing machines so we can do bigger loads, but we in turn need a detergent that will clean that much laundry.
A few weeks ago, I switched over to Tide Power PODS. These aren’t to be confused with regular Pods. Power PODS can clean up to 21 pounds of laundry and 4x more dirt, grime and grease!
Que in Power PODS.
What have I noticed since starting to use Power PODS?
–Cleaner Clothing with less effort.
I was washing multiple pieces of clothing over and over again as they weren’t getting clean due to grease, grass stains, marker stains ( and the list goes on and on ) the first time I’d washed them
Did you also know that clothing is increasingly made with many well known clothing company are using synthetic materials which are dirt magnets and make it way harder to clean and remove stains? Tide Power Pods is specifically formulated to help tackle this challenge!
–Throwing less clothing away
Due to me having to re-wash clothing continually, I found my clothes were looking faded and weathered quicker than they should. Did you know that it’s estimated that the average Canadian disposes of 81 pounds of textiles annually? Which is roughly 10 million pounds of clothing to the landfills every year. I know, mind-blowing! I know for me personally, when I can’t get a stain out, that piece of clothing is ruined for me and I toss it out as I don’t want my kids wearing it and It’s not in good enough condition to donate. Tide Power PODS have the cleaning technology to break through these stains to keep your clothes looking newer for longer so you can get more wear out of things!
–Having more freed up time to spend with my kids or on a new DIY
Prior to me switching over to Tide Power PODS I was doing smaller loads of laundry and I was rewashing clothing again and again. Over the past few weeks, instead of doing 3 loads a day, I’ve cut down to 2 loads a day, which has saved me a few hours a day! If you’ve been following me on Instagram I’ve been doing a new DIY project every single day. We’ve been playing board games with our kids, baking and spending time out in nature.
If I’m being honest, I don’t think I’ve ever done an actual medium or small load. Since I’m continually doing laundry, I wouldn’t be surprised if every load I’m doing is closer to a medium/large load! Tide Powder PODS are incredible as you can wash in cold water saving a ton money on hydro and keeps your clothing looking more vibrant for longer. They also clean 4x more dirt, so I know that when I put a large load in, it will get cleaned properly the first time.
See below for what a typical small, medium and large load looks like:
It now helps that I have a little five year old who likes to help me fold the laundry! I can take all the help I can get!
I would love to hear what your biggest frustration with laundry is and what kind of washing machine you have!
