If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know that my friend Addy, Steph and I just spent the last few days in Downtown Vancouver.
We like to call ourselves “bad moms on the loose” but honestly, we did nothing bad at all. If you call Addy cheating on her gluten free lifestyle (bad), that was the extent of it. Ha!
The last few days were amazing. We went over for the Life after Birth event and it didn’t disappoint one bit.
Knix was the trailblazer for helping me believe in myself and my curves. Helping me believe that every bit of my body should be treasured and valued. You don’t have to love every single part of your body to treat yourself with dignity and respect and this event was about loving our postpartum selves for the amazing bodies that they are.
Steph, Addy and I all got up around 5 AM on Wednesday and headed to the ferry to walk over and head to this revolutionary event. We stayed at the EXchange Hotel in Vancouver which was such a treat. This beautiful and new hotel used to be the stock exchange building and they renovated it into a beautiful upscale and luxury hotel. Addy and I have stayed in this hotel before and we will keep going back as every detail in this hotel makes you luxurious.

Funny story: When we were here a few weeks ago, they were filming a Stephen King movie on this road. All the streets were blocked off and it looked like an apocalyptic / zombie ( SO TERRIFYING). There was garbage everywhere, vehicles everywhere, gun shots and it looked like a the world was ending. Addy and I were so terrified until someone finally told us hours later that it was actually a movie filming.
There was no movie filming this time fortunately.

You walk into the rooms and each room is has a feature wall with wallpaper. There is wood floors and upscale area rugs squaring off the beds. Every detail in these rooms was thought out so carefully.

I found it hard to take photos in this hotel as there isn’t a ton of natural light – but let me say that the photos I took do not depict how stunning this hotel is in real life.
We got to stay in a “Queen Superior Suite” which would sleep six if needed. It has two queens and a pull out sofa – also a mini bar!
Every detail in these rooms is so beautiful.
They also brought us up wine and macaroons prior to our evening out. We felt like royalty.

At 5:30 we left for the Life After Birth event and it exceeded our expectations. This intimate group of 150 women got to hear Jillian Harris, Sarah Landy ( From The Birds Papaya ) and Joanna Griffiths ( the Founder of Knix ) speak about their Postpartum journeys. There was laughter, tears and empowerment throughout the room.
We were beyond spoiled and had VIP tickets so we were able to spend a bit of time with Jillian and Sarah prior to the event starting.
One thing that stuck with me is Sarah saying
“You don’t have to apologize for your body and how someone feels about YOUR body. Their comfort level has NOTHING to do with you”
and honestly, you can apply this to so many areas of your life.

We left this event with a new lease on our postpartum selves. Saggy skin, stretch marks and imperfections combined.
We awoke the next morning refreshed and we went for breakfast at the Hotels restaurant called “Hydra“. They have a bar and a cafe. It did not disappoint. I got my usual eggs benny and everything was made to perfection. My only minor complaint is I wish we were seated in a brighter area of this restaurant as it was so dark so I couldn’t get any shots of us, our seating or our food. The below photo is close to where we were seated and I had to brighten the photo quite a bit. If wanting to see additional photos of this rooftop restaurant, scroll back up. It’s absolutely stunning.
We still fully enjoyed ourselves, but you will have to use your imagination on our experience.

That concludes our trip to Vancouver. Bad Moms on the loose. It was an incredible day and a half away and I would recommend this hotel to anyone needing a refresh.
Centrally located at Howe and West Pender street, this hotel is near almost everything!

Thank you so much for allowing me to tag along. I had such a blast and feel so empowered and refreshed. The hotel was AMAZING and I will be staying there again for sure!
Thanks Steph. I had so much fun with you. We honestly have to plan a trip to the states and do a target stop!
