DIY Dipped Basket [ McGee and Co Inspired ]

April 25, 2020 4 Comments

As many are right now, I’ve been spending more time online shopping – or maybe I should say online browsing! I’ve always been a huge fan of McGee and Co, but I can’t pay their prices, especially since they’re in US. I recently came across this dipped basket and I knew I had to recreate it in my own home. Que in my version of the DIY dipped basket.

I currently have a beautiful planter pot in our living room with our 5′ Birds of Paradise, but I knew I wanted to put it in a basket to give the room a bit more of a beachy vibe. Que in my boredom and need to be doing a project 24/7 – I knew I wanted to try my hand at a DIY dipped basket, of course, inspired by McGee and Co.

I figured it out and after shipping and the exchange rate (as I’m in Canada ) I would be paying 214.00. My basket that I found in storage that I bought from Target years ago is roughly the same size as the large, so I tapped it off and started painting.

Shop List For DIY Dipped Basket

-A Wicker Basket

-Paint Brush

-White Paint

-Painters Tape

You can also use flat white spray paint for this project, but this is what I had on hand.

You don’t really need a DIY for these DIY dipped baskets, I just wanted to inspire you to paint your own baskets. But just a quick tip, when putting the tape on, make sure you push it down really well or else the paint will seep under the tape. Frog tape is amazing, but I only had basic painters tape on hand.

Honestly, this project took me about 20 minutes. Of course, it took a bit more time as the paint took a while to dry – but for actual work, no time at all!

Now that I know I can get a pretty straight line, I might try it on another basket!
