DIY Frame TV and Styling with Thrifted Items

This year, I’m making a lot more of a goal to make it onto the blog. I’ve slotted Monday, Wednesday and Friday’s to blog. But today, I’m partnering with Marynn from Wildflower Home to share our DIY’d and thrifted spaces -so you get an extra blog this week!

We’ve had a 32″ TV over our dresser for a few months now. It is a Frame TV, but I didn’t want to spend another 200 on the bezel because I knew we could make one for under 10 dollars. Sure enough, we found some scrap oak in our garage, so this project ended up being free.

We cut the frame to size and then brought it into the bedroom to make sure it fit. It did – SCORE. Then Glen decided to carve out the inside of the frame, so it would slide over the existing black frame.

Glen did such a good job, and it looks even better than our expensive bezel on our other frame TV. I also love the colour, but you know me, I may stain it in the future.

On this dresser, everything is thrifted except for the rings, books and TV.

I’m most proud of the lamp. It was an ugly retro bubblegum pink lamp that I transformed. If you want to see the before, head on over to my Instagram stories to see.

Since the wall on this side of our room is very open and large, the tiny 32″ Frame TV looked like it was drowning in white space. I styled the dresser with my DIY’d oversized lamp and the DIY’d jug with florals to break up the white space.

Since there’s so much white on this side of the room, I wanted a few of the pieces to be black, and that’s also the point of making the new frame for our TV; I really wanted some warmth through wood grain.

I hope this space inspires you to get out an thrift or look on marketplace for used goods and ALWAYS keep an open mind. Spray paint and paint can do wonders and really transform a piece!
