Five Storage Solutions For Small Homes

October 16, 2020 2 Comments

After many requests on the ‘gram, I’m here to share my five storage solutions for small homes!

We live in a 1,300 Square foot bungalow. That might seem like a decent amount of space, but when you add six humans into the mix, it makes it feel a lot smaller.

I’m a minimalist at heart which helps a TON with living in a small space, but I also have five storage solutions to share with you that might just make your life a little easier!

My Top Five Storage Solutions For Small Homes

  1. Utilize storage bins under beds.

There are so many storage bins on the market that roll or slide under beds to utilize the space that we do not typically use. In our twin room, we have two bins with all our kids blocks, cars, barbies and small nick nicks. Not are the bins super easy access, but they look cute too!

2. Hang A Market Bag

At our front door, we have a large market bag hanging on the hooks. This bag stores hats, gloves, scarves and anything currently in use. Since it’s right near the door, this allows for a quick grab-and-go when heading out the door. Plus, it completely conceals the mess!

3. Oversized baskets under a bench

Oversized baskets can conceal toys, shoes or really anything that you don’t want to be seen. We have these oversized baskets under our bench at the front door that store our shoes that are currently in use.

4. Glass Canister’s To Store Bulk Food

Not only does this bring character to your kitchen, it also is a eco-friendly way to shop and store you bulk foods. We like to store all our rices, flours, spices and snacks in glass canisters. These canisters can be purchased super inexpensively and they can be used over and over again.

5. Categorize your Closet With Baskets and Labels!

The point of a closet is to organize your life. But in reality, most of the time it looks like a bomb went off. I like to categorize everything into bins or baskets and place labels on them.

We have books, swimwear, toys and old linens are labeled in baskets for safe keeping. Everything in our home has a place and is easy to find.

I’d love to hear you store things in your home! I love organizing and purging and making a place for everything!

Great ideas for small spaces and I love what you did with the market bag. Pretty way to camouflage all the items for a busy Mom on the run.
