Five Tips To Decorate A Christmas mantle With Faux Garlands
Can you believe that it’s NOVEMBER 3RD? Not only is the Christmas season fast approaching, but it’s Election Day today!
Since I’m having to decorate really early this year due to the content being published in a magazine, I’m having to decorate solely with faux garlands.
Typically I like to mix faux and real to make it feel more authentic, but I don’ have that option so I had to get really creative this year!
We all know the typical pine garland looks pretty fake. It doesn’t matter where you buy it from or how expensive it is – they all look fake.
So here are my tips to make your mantle look full and real

Tips For Decorating A Christmas Mantle With Faux Garlands
- Use A Pine Garland As A Base
The difference between making something okay looking and beautiful is fluffing. Spend the time really going through each branch to completely fluff out your garland. Once You’ve manipulated it to how you want, figure out how you want your garland to look.
There are so many beautiful looks, this year I went with a centred garland, but if you check out the mantle I decorated for Home Depot back in September I went with an off-centred garland.
2. Staple It In Place
I purchased a staple gun years ago and it has come in handy all over our home. For decorating the mantle, I like to make sure it’s attached to the mantle really well so I can stuff other branches and make it look more full.

3. Pull Apart Old Wreaths and Garlands
For this Christmas mantle, I pulled apart two different garlands to stuff the florals into the pine. You can also pull apart a wreath and often stores like Michaels, Amazon, or even your local florist will have separate stems you can purchase.
4. Make It Look Real
If you were to hang a real garland, the branches would drape due to the weight of each branch. When you’re stuffing in your stems and florals, make sure you drape them as if they are heavy. If you look at my garland, the eucalyptus and pine are hanging down. I also stuffed a few pieces of pine in sideways to fluff up the garland.
5. Choose Different Types Of Greenery
Adding depth to your garland is key as it makes your garland look much more expensive than it is. When choosing different types of greenery and stems, it gives your garland a higher-end look with depth.

I hope this blog helps your decorate your own Christmas mantle with faux garlands. Have fun with it and remember – it doesn’t have to look perfect!
