For years I’ve been asked how I make my smoothies. Truth be told, I’m not one to measure or even put the same ingredients in my smoothies. But coming from a mama of a former-pick-eater this was one of my go to breakfast choices as I knew that he would get his nutrients for the day. Below you will find my recipe for our Green Machine Smoothie and I can bet you that your picky eater will gulp it down.
Cai and Brinley are known to be “garbage cans” and we literally eat anything you put in front of them, but this wasn’t the case with our eldest and we went through some brutal dinners with him forcing him to eat what we put in front of him. I remember many meals that he would go to bed hungry as he refused to eat simple things like chicken and rice. I was scared that he wasn’t getting his nutrients so when he was 3 I developed my smoothie into something a little bit more powerful so I knew he was at least getting a good start to his day and giving his brain some fuel.
Before I throw my recipe at you, know that you can literally make this however you want, I’ll tell you the main ingredients that I always put in and then I throw in whatever I have on hand at the time.
Ingredients For A Green Machine Smoothie – Morris Style
1 Ripe Banana
Large Handful of Spinach or Kale ( This is a super food )
6 Frozen Strawberries
1 Cup Almond Milk or Regular Milk ( Keep in mind regular milk contains sugar )
1 Scoop of Almond Butter
Extras
Chia Seeds
Probiotic ( Break open capsule and throw in )
Avocado or Plain Greek Yogurt
Added calories I sometimes put Whey or Protein Powder in
Blend up and Enjoy. This smoothie is really sweet with the strawberries and banana so my kids have always gulped this smoothie down over the years. Even Hudson who refused to touch strawberries, kale, spinach and basically all the above would drink this.
I like how I can throw probiotics in so I know that I’m not relying on my kids food intake for the day to balance their body.
I hope you all are too alarmed by my food post today. I know it’s totally unlike me to post about food but I hope you enjoyed it! If you love this recipe I would appreciate a share to Pinterest.
Have a great week!
